5 Things I Always Pack in My Carry-On
I’ve learned over the years that a well-packed carry-on can make all the difference when traveling. Flights don’t always go according to plan; delays happen, connections get missed, and sometimes you end up spending a lot more time in an airport or on a plane than you expected. Having a few simple things with me helps me feel comfortable and prepared, no matter what happens.
Here are five things I always make sure to pack:
1. Snacks
You just never know when you might be stuck waiting longer than expected. Whether it’s a delayed flight, a missed connection, or a long airport layover, having a few snacks with me keeps me from getting hangry and saves me from having to rely on whatever happens to be available at the airport.
2. A small travel blanket
I am always cold on airplanes, so a small travel blanket has become one of my favorite comfort items. It doesn’t take up much room, but it makes a long flight so much more enjoyable.
3. My mobile device
I always bring my phone or tablet, so I have plenty of ways to pass the time. Sometimes that means playing solitaire, catching up on a show, reading, or just having something to keep me entertained during the flight.
4. A portable charger
A dead battery is the last thing I want when I’m traveling. A portable charger gives me peace of mind so that I’ll still have access to my phone when I need directions, boarding information, or a way to stay connected.
5. A brush and a hat
This one comes from experience! I once ended up spending the night in Atlanta after a cancelled flight, and we weren’t able to get our checked bags back. I had everything I needed… except a brush. Let’s just say I learned my lesson. Now, a brush and a hat are always in my carry-on because sometimes you have to be prepared for the unexpected.
These items are small, but they can make a big difference when travel doesn’t go exactly as planned. A little preparation can help turn a stressful situation into one that feels much more manageable.
